SCAR OSC 2026 - Call for event proposals

The 12th SCAR Open Science Conference (OSC) will take place from 10–14 August 2026 in Oslo, Norway, hosted by the Norwegian Polar Institute. The OSC is SCAR’s flagship event, bringing together researchers from across the Antarctic and Southern Ocean science community. The 2026 Conference will feature a diverse and interdisciplinary programme including plenary lectures, parallel sessions, mini-symposia, workshops, panel discussions, posters and social activities. Event proposals are now being solicited.

Call for Parallel Sessions, Mini-Symposia, Workshops & Other Events  (10-14 August 2026)

SCAR invites expressions of interest to propose events during the main Conference week. You are welcome to suggest a new parallel session or volunteer to convene one from the draft list.  Proposals for mini-symposia, workshops or other events are also requested. We particularly welcome cross-disciplinary and innovative ideas. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute your expertise and insights, and engage with the broader Antarctic research community.

The deadline for submitting proposals is 31 August 2025.

Call for Satellite Events and Weekend Workshops (8–9 and 15–16 August 2026)

Proposals are also open for satellite events and workshops on the weekends before and after the conference (8–9 and 15–16 August 2026). We encourage the entire Antarctic science community to use this opportunity to bring together their organisations, collaborations and teams. Space is limited and will be reviewed and allocated on a first-come basis.

The deadline is 31 January 2026.
