New US Representatives for SCAR Life Sciences

US-SCAR is happy to announce and welcome two new US representatives for the SCAR Standing Science Group (SSG) for the Life Sciences:

  • Becky Ball, Professor , School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences | Arizona State University
  • Dan Costa, Distinguished Professor, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Department, Institute of Marine Sciences | University of California Santa Cruz

Many thanks to the outgoing Life Sciences representative, George Watters (who was the Director of the Antarctic Ecosystem Research Division, NOAA Fisheries) for his long service and dedication as a US Life Sciences representative over the past years.

SCAR has three SSGs as part of its organizational structure: Life Sciences, Physical Sciences and Geosciences. The SSGs have official representatives from each SCAR member country, appointed by a national committee. For the US, the National Academies Polar Research Board (PRB) is the national committee that has made the appointments above. You can see the list of all US representatives to SCAR at the US-SCAR website.
