Research Interests
Derek Pickell is a glaciologist and polar engineer whose research focuses on developing and applying GNSS technology to study ice dynamics and surface mass balance through GNSS interferometric reflectometry (GNSS-IR). His work advances understanding of ice sheet stability and surface processes in Greenland and Antarctica, while reducing barriers to successful field instrumentation. Derek also contributes to projects on crevasse detection and ice rheology using radar methods.
