New SCAR Scientific Research Programs Community Meetings

Announcing two community meetings for new SCAR Scientific Research Programs: AntClimNow and AntICON

Near-term Variability and Prediction of the Antarctic Climate System (AntClimnow)

Registration for AntClimNow community launch
20:00 - 22:00 UTC 9th June 2021

AntClimNow is one of the new SCAR Scientific Research Programmes (SRPs) and is focussed on understanding current trends and variability in Antarctic climate and prediction of near-term conditions in the Antarctic climate system on timescales of years to decades.

The purpose of the launch event is to announce the start of the programme to both the Antarctic science and the wider communities with the aim of identifying opportunities for future collaboration and/or engagement.

The meeting will be held on Zoom, with recordings made available for those unable to attend due to time zone differences or other reasons. Specific details of the schedule will be provided in advance of the meeting.

The deadline for registration is 2nd June 23:59 UTC.

Integrated Science to Inform Antarctic and Southern Ocean Conservation (Ant-ICON)

Registration is now open for the Integrated Science to Inform Antarctic and Southern Ocean Conservation (Ant-ICON) Community Engagement Meeting. The aim of this meeting is to provide an opportunity to hear from the Steering Committee and provide a forum where a broad cross-section of the Antarctic research community can ask questions and discuss ideas. All are welcome!

It will take the form of a town-hall type meeting, with short presentations from Chief Officers, Deputy Chief Officers and Theme Leads, with opportunities for broad discussion and questions throughout the meeting.

The same meeting will be held twice to provide better access across multiple time zones.
