Research Interests
Samantha Hansen is an earthquake seismologist who investigates large-scale Earth structure. Her work in Antarctica has focused on studies of the crustal and mantle structure beneath various tectonic terrains (such as the Transantarctic and the Gamburtsev Mountains), and she has also recently expanded into deep Earth investigations of the core-mantle boundary. In addition to addressing geologic questions about the continent, her work has implications for ice-sheet modeling and understanding cryospheric processes.
