Position
Full Professor
Affiliation
University of California San Diego
Department
Scripps Institution of Oceanography
Research Interests
Lynne Talley is a physical oceanographer with interests in large-scale ocean circulation and its interaction with climate and with biogeochemistry. She has participated in bringing a network of circumpolar BGC profiling floats to the Southern Ocean over the past 10 years, and associated research to understand how the 3-dimensional circulation, heat and freshwater forcing, and various ocean processes affect ocean uptake of heat and carbon.
Antarctic Research Location(s)
RVIB Nathaniel B. Palmer
Research Keywords
ocean circulation, air-sea buoyancy and carbon exchange, impacts of circulation on sea ice and ice shelves
NSF Antarctic Program
Antarctic Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences
