Research Interests
Hannah Dawson is a biological oceanographer with expertise in microbial ecology and geochemistry in Arctic and Antarctic sea ice and seawater. Her work involves field studies and metabolomic and genetic analyses to investigate the distribution of microbes, particularly sea-ice algae, within sea ice and their response to changes in environmental parameters such as temperature and salinity, associated with melting ice. This research addresses questions related to the impact of climate change on the base of polar food webs.
