Research Interests
Frank Nitsche is a marine geophysicists with expertise in multi-channel seismic, multibeam bathymetry, sediments, glacial morphology, and data management. He has worked mostly in the Amundsen Sea and Bellingshausen Sea sector of Antarctica, but also areas of the East Antarctic Margin. His current research is focused on collecting and compiling bathymetric data and analyzing geomorphological details to better understand past ice dynamics, bed processed, and potential warm water access to the current ice sheet. As part of his research he has participated on several ship-based expeditions to Antarctica.
He is also a data manager with the US Antarctic Program Data Center (USAP-DC), a US representative at SCADM, and involved in data compilations efforts and collection for marine seismic data (SDLS) and bathymetry data (IBCSO and Seabed 2030).
