Research Interests
Daniel Zitterbart uses remote sensing methods to study ocean ecosystem health and penguin population dyanmics. Emperor and Adelie penguin colonies serve as model systems. His research addresses to assess the health of penguin colonies and their associated foraging grounds by using collective behavior as a proxy. He operates the SPOT penguin observatory in Atka Bay, Antarctica.
