Research Interests
Alexis Janosik is a molecular ecologist, with expertise in invertebrates and fishes. Her research centers on using molecular tools to answer ecological and evolutionary questions, with specific interest in environmental DNA, metabarcoding, bioinformatics, population genetics, and microplastics contamination. Her work in Antarctica involves both invertebrates and birds and ranges from microplastics contamination studies to DNA metabarcoding to population genetics. She is particularly focused on mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, helping them find their path to success in marine biology, with a foundation of access and belonging as guiding pillars.
